Diagnostic Imaging

Diagnostic imaging includes x-rays and ultrasound and they are a vital tool in our understanding disease and trauma. We are proud to have all the necessary facilities in house for these investigations.

X-rays are commonly performed for trauma and diseases of the chest. We will almost always perform this under a light sedation or even an anaesthetic depending on the patient needs. They are quick to perform and we will have immediate information to guide our treatment. 

We also have dental radiographs for any concern affecting the oral cavity. They can also be a useful means to get extra detail in some of the extremities – particularly useful for the paws / toes. 

Ultrasound is vital for a variety of conditions but we most commonly use ultrasound to investigate the abdominal and heart health. Brockwell Vets invested heavily in a specialised ultrasound machine to provide excellent detail and allow us to perform heart scans.

Many clinics require visiting vets or a telemedicine service to perform ultrasound. At Brockwell Vets we have the necessary experience to perform all of this in house. William Chandler has a special interest in diagnostic imaging and has led hospital teams prior to coming to Brockwell.
